POSITION OVERVIEW:
St. David’s School seeks a dynamic, energetic, and responsible Lead Counselor for its Summer Camp program. The Lead Counselor plays a key leadership role in creating a safe, engaging, and joyful camp environment. This position oversees daily camp operations, supports counselors, facilitates activities, and ensures positive experience for all campers and families.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
LEADERSHIP & SUPERVISION:
- Provide daily leadership and guidance to assigned camp counselors and volunteers.
- Coordinate and supervise camp groups, ensuring safety, engagement, and age-appropriate activity flow.
- Serve as the point of contact for counselor questions, behavior management support, and activity troubleshooting.
- Model professionalism, positivity, and teamwork at all times.
PROGRAM EXECUTION:
- Plan, lead and facilitate camp activities, games, and programs in alignment with weekly themes.
- Assist with planning daily schedules and ensuring activities run smoothly and on time.
- Adapt activities as needed for student interests, group dynamics, or weather conditions.
- Maintain high energy and enthusiasm to create a fun and memorable experience for campers.
CAMPER CARE & SAFETY:
- Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all campers.
- Support counselors with behavior management and conflict resolution, following school guidelines.
- Conduct attendance checks, manage transitions, and monitor group movement across campus.
- Respond promptly and effectively to any incidents or emergencies.
COMMUNICATION & FAMILY ENGAGEMENT:
- Communicate warmly and professionally with parents during drop-off, pick-up, and as needed throughout the day.
- Provide clear, timely updates to the Camp Director regarding concerns, scheduling needs, or program supplies.
- Maintain open, supportive communication with all team members.
- Attend and promote all Family Nights and Staff Meetings
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:
- Assist with check-in, dismissal, and general camp logistics.
- Complete incident reports, attendance records, and other required documentation.
- Help maintain organized, clean, and well-stocked program spaces.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with children in a camp, school, or youth program environment (leadership experience preferred).
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead and supervise peers with confidence and positivity.
- CPR/First Aid certification will be provided before camp starts
- Ability to work outdoors in summer weather and participate in active play.
- Desire to foster a welcoming, inclusive, and growth‑oriented environment.
SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION:
- Seasonal, full-time position during St. David’s Summer Camp sessions.
- Typical hours: Monday–Friday, approximately 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. (varies).
- Compensation based on experience.
