• Ability to provide a safe, nurturing, and positive environment for all camp participants, ensuring that campers have a fun and enriching experience.

• Individuals who are ready to embrace a summer full of laughter, teamwork, and learning.

Details:

• Starting pay is $18/hour; or $19.00/hour if you obtain your lifeguard certification.
• This position runs June 15th through August 15th with five additional mandatory training days from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm (dates pending).
• The schedule is up to 40 hours per week and may rotate between the hours of 7:30 am - 5:30 pm

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Supervises a group of children.
2. Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
3. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
4. Attends staff meetings and trainings.
5. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
6. Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, children and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Preferred previous experience working with children, bonus if you've worked in a day camp setting before.
2. Experience preferred in one or more camp skills: outdoor recreation, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, arts/crafts, etc…
3. At least 16 years of age (The age minimum may be higher depending on state law and YMCA policies.)
4. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training are required within 30 days of hire date.
