The Indianapolis Zoo is looking for a dynamic Assistant to the Vice President of Operations to actively provide a full range of administrative and hands-on duties across Operations.
What You'll Do
- Proactively manage calendars, schedule meetings, prepare agendas, take minutes, and distribute follow-ups.
- Collaborate with various departments to draft reports and coordinate travel and conference requests.
- Support budget tracking and vendor communications, including contract review and editing/proofreading documents.
- Physically assist with setup and breakdown of events and provide logistical help across departments (Sales, Guest Experience, Safety, Security, Public Events).
- Partner with Public Relations to support web updates related to department activities.
- Serve as liaison between VP, staff, vendors, and the public.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 1 year of prior administrative experience.
- Strong editing and proofreading skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Keyboarding speed of 50 wpm.
- Comfortable working outdoors on occasion to assist with special events.
- Familiarity with the Zoo's mission and enthusiasm for wildlife conservation.
Bonus Points
- Bachelor's degree desired but not required.
- Familiarity with Access, Project or similar software programs.
