General Overview of the Position
- We are looking for fun and energetic counselors to engage school-age campers in various activities, games, field trips, swimming, science, and more! Provide leadership and team building and make a positive impact on children's lives!
Estimated 30-40 hours per week in the summer; Flexible work schedules possible.
Under the supervision of the Day Camp Coordinator, the Day Camp Counselor is directly responsible for the safety and direct supervision of the participants in the Day Camp program. Examples of Essential Duties
- Responsible for supervision of children and activities
- Ensure all equipment is set up, and activity area is safe.
- Assist in planning programs and daily activities.
- Observes, enforces and explains all facility rules and regulations to participants.
- Report problems or needs to management.
- Responsible for clean-up of their playground activities area.
- Report to work at the scheduled hour and work the entire assigned schedule.
- Attend all in-service training programs and be aware of facility procedures.
- Communicate equipment and/or supply needs with management.
- All other duties as may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Possess and interest in working with/teaching children.
- Ability to keep simple records and reports, and work from oral and written directions.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, knee, crouch or crawl.
- Ability to communicate effectively, courteously, and tactfully with staff, city officials and the public.
- Ability to present a positive image of the department and the City.
