Position:  Congress Hall History Tour Guide – Part Time

Reports to:  Guest Experience Manager

 

Position Overview:   

As a History Tour Guide for Congress Hall, this position is dependent on an ability to interface with the public and provide accurate information concerning specialized interests. This position contains aspects of customer service, information dissemination, and continuing education. A tour guide is responsible for the overall promotion of Congress Hall and Cape Resorts Properties through historical knowledge and entertainment. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing and Story Telling – based on a general script provided by Congress Hall
  • Engaging and involving customers in the experience 
  • Explaining the history of Congress Hall, Cape Resorts, and Cape May
  • Describe points of interest along the tour and answer questions as required
  • Greet and assemble guests, check required passes before departing on tour
  • Keep accurate tracking of tour attendees as Guest vs non-Guest and report to Guest Experience Manager
  • Manage time and length of tour to stay within allotted time

  • Excellent public speaking, communication, and time management skills
  • Creative methods of communication
  • Positive attitude and high work ethic
  • Ability to memorize a script
  • Ability to do thorough research and become an expert on the tour subject in order to answer guests questions 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School or equivalent education required
  • 2 years’ experience in a guest services role is required
  • Previous tour guide experience is preferred 
  • All employees must maintain a neat and clean appearance per Cape Resorts standards
  • Must be available on weekends


This position is ideal for a candidate seeking to work 2-3 hours a day, 3-5 days a week. There may be potential for additional hours through cross training to support other activities within the programming department.
