General Teacher Responsibilities:
• Create, deliver, and record a cohesive, well planned and articulated program that is in concert with classroom topics and curricula
• Set and achieve annual professional development goals with Assistant Head of School for Academic Affairs
• Provide substitute lesson plans as needed
• Substitute for absent colleagues when available/as needed
• Advise and meet with MS students weekly and attend MS advisory meetings
• Communicate with advisors/parents regarding student concerns
• Write weekly plans, student reports, and enter grades into PS within deadlines
• Assist in recess duty, arrival & dismissal duties, hall monitoring, study halls, and lunch duty as assigned. Chaperone MS trips as needed
• Respond in a timely way to voice-mail, email, and mail
• Keep classroom orderly and safe
• Other duties as may be assigned
PE Teacher Responsibilities:
• Teach classes of PE in grades K-8, incorporating Core Virtues into daily lessons and interactions
• Assist in maintaining equipment and grounds, setup and takedown of performance/special events seating
• Recognize that the gym is a multi-purpose space and share it for special events and other activities as needed; this may require relocating your classes outdoors or to other spaces
• Keep PE space including office and bulletin boards neat and organized
• Coordinate annual special events as needed
• Maintain CPR certification
• Maintain Physical Education equipment and perform and document recommended safety inspections
Lead Health Instructor Responsibilities:
• Train staff in first aid, as needed
• Coordinate all health instruction
• Teach health classes
• Teach Grade 5 health program
• Teach as a concentrated MS health program
• Schedule to be arranged/confirmed with Assistant Head of School for Academic Affairs
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Develop and maintain proficiency in computer skills including PowerSchool, Google, Word documents
• Effectively communicate orally and in writing
• Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
• Be creative and energetic
• Maintain healthy and appropriate boundaries with all students and school community members
• Maintain appropriate confidentiality
• Ability to frequently sit, stand, stoop, bend, and move throughout the room and campus
• Pass a state and federal background check
