L.L.Bean is currently searching for an Project Manager to join the Fulfillment team located in Freeport, Maine.

Position Purpose: In this important role this person will work under minimal supervision to plan, direct and coordinate activities of short-term, inter-departmental project(s) to ensure goals or objectives of the project(s) are accomplished within prescribed timeframe and budgetary parameters. Generally, responsible for project(s) with moderate to medium financial impact to single or multiple area(s), working with a small interdepartmental project team, and generally short-term duration (typically one year or less).


Responsibilities:

  • Applies established procedures and project management methodologies.

  • Work with sponsoring management to define project scope, outcomes, and priorities.

  • Develop project definition, timelines, milestones, and role clarification for all people involved in the project. Assign tasks and necessary resources.

  • Determine work teams, consultants or individuals critical to involve in the project and bring together as necessary.

  • Plan project budget, resource allocation and tracking throughout the life of the project.

  • Ensure project team works efficiently to achieve objectives and adhere to deadlines.

  • Ensure continuous communication around the project occurs as required.

  • Keep management informed of progress to goal; negotiate adjustments to the schedule as necessary.

  • Act as liaison with internal and external consultants, ensuring adequate information is readily available and coordinating activities in line with the project plan.

  • Make recommendations to project sponsor(s) and ensure an action plan is established that will lead to the successful implementation of project recommendations.

  • Plan for and report measurements to document and evaluate the success of the projects.

  • May work with external vendors to negotiate contracts.

  • May assume people management responsibilities and provides coaching and mentoring to subordinate group.

  • Has authority to make decisions within scope of project plan.

  • Assume additional related responsibilities as requested.

Education Level: 4-Year Bachelors Degree
Years of Experience: 2+ years

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive functional, process and/or technical skills related to project area; subject matter expert

  • Knowledge of Warehousing, Fulfillment processes and related technology (MHE, WMS) .

  • Comprehensive knowledge of project management (PMI BOK) and business skills.

  • Knowledge of Project Management software (MS Project) required.

  • Strong communication skills with ability to communicate across wide range of audiences.

  • Team oriented and flexible to business changes (Fulfillment Peak season).

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills

  • Strong people management skills

  • Understanding of group dynamics and proven ability to gain cooperation across multiple teams and disciplines

  • Ability to influence across wide range of audiences

  • Bias for action; driven to obtain issue resolution and project closure

  • Strong computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)

  • Background in warehousing, shipping/receiving, logistics, or supply chain management.
