Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Public Relations Manager to manage media relations and craft compelling communications. The Public Relations Manager will be a member of the Marketing team dedicated to driving awareness and attendance for the Bronx Zoo and New York Aquarium.
The Public Relations Manager will manage our earned media for attendance driving initiatives, including drafting an annual communication strategy, crafting press materials, pitching to key reporters as well as influencers/bloggers, and measuring our impact.
We are looking for a candidate with a track record of securing breakthrough earned media coverage. The ideal candidate should be someone that is storyteller at heart with a passion for writing and creating press opportunities.
Major Responsibilities:- Media Relations: Build and maintain relationships with journalists, influencers, bloggers and media outlets to secure press coverage.
- Strategic PR Planning: Develop and execute an annual PR strategy that aligns with business objectives and creates key opportunities throughout the year that will keep our brand top-of-mind and create excitement to purchase tickets.
- Press Materials: Write and distribute press releases, talking points, and other communication materials.
- Event Coordination: Plan and support press conferences, media events, and interviews.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Track media coverage, analyze PR performance, and provide insights and recommendations.
Internal Qualification RequirementsBachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Public Relations, Communications, or Journalism.
6+ years’ experience working in PR/Comms at an agency or in-house.
Experience successfully designing & activating earned media strategies for large brand.
A track record of delivering breakthrough earned media coverage.
A can-do attitude and commitment to delivering creative solutions for internal stakeholders.
A relationship builder, who can navigate multi-stakeholder input and drive messaging forward even while operating in a continually changing external environment.
Impeccable storytelling, written and oral communication skills.
Highly organized and calm, resourceful, critical thinker who thrives at problem-solving.
Experience with Zoo, Aquarium, Cultural Institution or Attraction is a plus.
