Senior Manager, Business Development

Reporting to the AVP, Business Development - Operations, the Sr. Manager, Business Development will lead international wholesale expansion, and will be responsible for all processes related to successfully onboarding brick & mortar retailers and marketplaces.


  • Define and execute a multi-year global retailer pipeline across various industries, including but not limited to technology, sporting goods, and marketplaces, by analyzing retail market trends and conducting in-depth retailer diligence at the country level. 
  • Proactively conduct retailer outreach, create proposals, lead negotiations, and develop an onboarding plan in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Partner with Legal to execute contracts, develop SOPs to address unauthorized resellers, and establish country level wholesale policies. 
  • Partner with Legal, Accounting & Engineering on country level tax certifications, hardware registrations, and packaging requirements by country.
  • Collaborate with Strategic Finance on LTV/CAC model and pricing & promotion strategies for new geographies. 
  • Create and iterate on retailer level forecasts with FP&A. 
  • Coordinate strategy with DTC to collectively grow the WHOOP membership base.
  • Own communications internally with respect to pipeline, retailer launch status, and any bottlenecks impacting progress. 
  • Post retailer launch, transition knowledge base to the Operations and Marketing teams, with a clearly laid out path for success. 
  • Flex as required to support additional business needs, including but not limited to compliance, packaging, and pricing matters with existing retailers.

  • 8+ years in international market expansion, ideally in a dynamic start-up environment. 
  • Experience spans operations, trade compliance, and marketing. 
  • Experience with Amazon and/or marketplaces is strongly preferred.
  • Brings a mix of a data driven and operational mindset to the table. 
  • Excellent business acumen, negotiation and communication skills. 
  • Curious, collaborative, and adaptable in an ever-changing field.
  • Self-starter; not afraid to roll up their sleeves and be an individual contributor Day 1. 
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for fitness, health & technology.
  • Willingness to travel to retailers and trade shows (up to 20%).


The role is ideally based out of the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. We will also consider employees based in Ireland who are willing to travel to Boston, MA 1x per month.
