Job Description
AECOM is seeking an entry-level Environmental Engineer to join our team in the Los Angeles area. This position offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals to gain hands-on experience working on a wide variety of environmental projects.
The successful candidate will work closely with project managers and senior staff, assisting with both office and field tasks that support environmental compliance, investigation, and remediation efforts. This is a learning-focused role with opportunities to develop technical skills, build industry knowledge, and grow within a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Assisting with environmental field activities such as site investigations, soil and groundwater sampling, and drilling observation.
Supporting the preparation of technical reports, data tables, and figures.
Performing data entry, management, and basic analysis under the guidance of senior staff.
Assisting in the preparation of environmental permit applications and compliance documentation.
Supporting regulatory research and reviews.
Participating in health and safety training and maintaining a strong commitment to safe work practices.
Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support project deliverables.
AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Los Angeles, California October 29-30. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2026.
The event kicks off on Wednesday evening with a networking mixer from 6-8 pm, where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines.
On Thursday, interviews will take place at either our Los Angeles or Orange office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review and a substance abuse test.
Due to the nature of work, US citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Internship or coursework experience in environmental engineering, science, or related fields.
40-hour HAZWOPER training (or willingness to obtain).
Familiarity with California environmental regulations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with data analysis software a plus.
Additional Information
Relocation assistance and/or per diem is not available for this position.
Candidate will submit to medical surveillance screening upon hire.
This role requires a combination of office and field work; candidates should expect periodic travel within California.
