Job Purpose/Overview We are looking for skilled and approachable instructors with strong hands-on expertise in small animal ultrasound. Individuals will thrive in an interactive, practical teaching environment where they can guide learners’ step by step through scanning techniques, image acquisition, and interpretation. They are passionate about mentoring veterinary paraprofessionals, fostering confidence and technical competence through personalized instruction. With a teaching approach grounded in patience, precision, and encouragement, they excel in small-group settings (typically maintaining a 1 instructor to 3 students’ ratio) to ensure optimal learning outcomes. Professional Background (Qualified in one of the following) Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Technologist with diagnostic imaging experience Veterinarian (DVM) or Veterinary Specialist with advanced ultrasound proficiency 3+ years of hands-on experience performing diagnostic ultrasound in a clinical or teaching setting (veterinary or human). Proven ability to instruct or mentor others in ultrasound operation, anatomy recognition, and scan optimization. Core Skills and Responsibilities Expertise in ultrasound equipment operation, image optimization, and safety protocols. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and able to adapt explanations to various learning levels. Skilled in demonstrating, observing, and coaching learners through each stage of the scanning process. Maintains professionalism, empathy, and enthusiasm in all learner interactions. Hands-on and detail-oriented, with a calm, approachable, supportive demeanor. Encourages curiosity and critical thinking in students. Collaborative and committed to high educational standards. Finds fulfillment in helping veterinary paraprofessionals build real-world ultrasound skills.
