Are you passionate about plants and storytelling? The Atlanta Botanical Garden is seeking a creative Conservation Communications Technician to support the Southeastern Center for Conservation in bringing our vital plant conservation work to life through engaging, science-based digital storytelling. The successful candidate will work closely with the Conservation Engagement Coordinator. This is a unique opportunity available to candidates looking to gain experience in science communication.
This is a temporary part-time position, that will start January/February of 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop a repository of engaging and evergreen social media content using images, graphics, and short-form video to showcase the Center's work and educate audiences on plant conservation
Ensure content consistency with Atlanta Botanical Garden and Southeastern Center for Conservation voice and visual brand identity
Assist with taking high quality images and video to support content as necessary
Analyze social media engagement to identify high-performing content for future campaigns and areas of improvement
Perform social media research to identify content trends and potential micro-influencer partnerships
Write social media captions that showcase the Center's work in an approachable, professional, and scientifically accurate way
Requirements
Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail
Proficient with major social media platforms especially Instagram
Experience editing graphics and videos
Previous experience creating social media content for an organization
Work experience or coursework in botany, biology, environmental conservation, or science communication a plus
Ability to conduct self-directed research on scientific topics to ensure accurate and up-to-date science communication content
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Mental Requirements:
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and complete responsibilities with minimal supervision
Must be able to effectively interact with the general public and co-workers and peer professionals
