    Job Description

Multnomah Athletic Club is more than Portland’s most legendary hub of sports and socializing. It’s like a small city unto itself. Where else can you find four restaurants, three pools, a climbing gym, state-of-the-art studios and fitness suite, a complex of racquet sport courts, full massage and physical therapy offerings, a boutique, plus a grand ballroom and variety of events spaces all in one place? To say that every employee of MAC has room to move is an understatement almost as big as MAC’s 600,000 square feet of recreational possibilities.

Want a career with a future? A campus worth exploring? A one-of-a-kind community on which you can have a direct impact? MAC is all of those things and more.

Are you passionate about freeride skiing and eager to share your love of the sport with the next generation of competitors? MAC Ski and Snowboard is on the lookout for a dynamic and experienced part-time, seasonal Assistant Coach to join our Freeride Competition Ski Team at both the Multnomah Athletic Club and Mt. Hood Meadows.

    The Role

At MAC Ski and Snowboard, we’re dedicated to developing skilled, well-rounded athletes who excel in all-mountain skiing and riding. Our program focuses on comprehensive training, from backcountry safety and avalanche awareness to competitive skill development. As we continue to grow and send athletes to prestigious events like the USASA Freeride Nationals, we need enthusiastic coaches who thrive in a positive, supportive team environment.

    What You’ll Do

Weekend and Seasonal Coaching: Begin with weekend sessions in December, followed by Holiday Camp (December 27-30), and continue through weekends from January to March, including Nationals in April.

Training Across Disciplines: Work closely with athletes to develop their skills in Skicross, Half-Pipe, Slopestyle, Moguls, and Big-Mountain.

Team Collaboration: Report to the Head Freeride Team Ski Coach and Program Director/Head Coach, contributing to a cohesive team strategy and fostering a positive team culture.

    What You’ll Bring

Certifications: Current professional certification from US Ski and Snowboard, PSIA, USASA, or IFSA, or a proven competitive background in snow sports as an athlete or coach.

Prior Experience: Prior experience coaching competitive teams in snow sports.

Organizational Skills: Strong planning, organizational, and time-management abilities.

Tech Savvy: Proficient in computer and smartphone applications including email, Microsoft Office, Dayforce App, and Team Snap for scheduling and communication.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to fulfill the physical requirements of the coaching position, including, but not limited to, long periods of standing & walking, skiing, etc.

    What You’ll Gain

At Multnomah Athletic Club, we believe in taking care of our team members. We offer a wide range of benefits to ensure your well-being, both inside and outside the club. Here's what's in it for you:

Competitive Pay: Base hourly rate with potential increases based on experience and certifications.

Season Pass: Enjoy a free season pass to Mt. Hood Meadows.

Facility Access: Free access to our exercise room and classes, climbing gym, and pools.

Convenience: Free parking and discounted public transportation passes.

Well-being: Access our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and the Headspace wellness app for free.

Perks: Enjoy discounts on club services and meals

Ready to take your coaching career to the next level? We look forward to hearing how you can contribute to our vibrant team here at The MAC!
