    Job Description

    Description:

FLSA Classification: Nonexempt Job Type: Temporary

    • Reports to: Youth Programs Director

    Description:

Want to love your job, have fun, and enjoy your summer — while getting paid to play? Looking for a role where you can create lifelong memories, make a real impact on kids’ lives, and build strong group leadership skills for your resume? This is it. We’re looking for energetic, positive, and dependable Summer Camp Counselors to help lead unforgettable summer experiences for elementary and middle school campers. From outdoor games and creative projects to teamwork challenges and daily adventures, you’ll be right in the action — laughing, learning, and leading all summer long.

In school? No problem! Mandatory team training will be held on May 9th. Camp runs June 1st through August 11th.

    Summary

    • Lead, mentor, and supervise campers while helping deliver fun, energetic, and developmentally appropriate summer programming. Counselors must be able to commit to the full summer camp season (June 1st–August 11th). This role is perfect for anyone looking to gain hands-on experience in leadership, teamwork, and youth development.

Essential functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Supervise and interact with children to promote engaging, educational, and age-appropriate activities. Get paid to actively participate in games, crafts, outdoor play, and special events.

Direct and support children during classroom activities, outdoor play, group rotations, and transitions.

    • Help create a fun, welcoming environment where kids feel safe, included, and excited to be at camp.
    • Communicate with children in a way that builds relationships, teamwork, and confidence.

Promote safety and security at all times, following state childcare licensing standards.

    • Ensure group rotations and daily schedules run smoothly.
    • Maintain appropriate student-to-counselor ratios and keep campers within sight and sound at all times.
    • Assist with group and classroom management.
    • Help plan, prepare, and actively participate in daily camp activities.
    • Communicate program policies and expectations to campers and parents as needed.
    • Maintain a visible presence during work shifts and remain responsible for assigned areas.
    • Ensure classrooms and activity areas are cleaned and organized at the end of each day per state standards.

    Requirements:

Physical demands Ability to stand, walk, move, and bend throughout the duration of a shift. Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations. Ability to fully participate in both indoor and outdoor activities. Comfort working in a lively, high-energy environment with increased noise and movement.

Ability to work outdoors in warm, humid, rainy, or windy conditions. Willingness to work varied shifts including days, occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays. Required competencies, education, and experience High School Diploma recommended; College or Bachelor's degree prefered. Coursework in childhood education or development may substitute for a degree if it meets state licensing standards.

Must be at least 18 years old. Must be able to commit to the full summer camp season (June 1 – August 11) and mandatory training on May 9th. Prior experience in youth programming, childcare, or summer camps highly desired. Knowledge of state childcare licensing standards strongly preferred. Company Expectations

Read, sign, and abide by policies outlined in the Team Member Handbook.

    • Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
    • Deliver five-star service to members and guests with friendliness, professionalism, and a welcoming demeanor.

Promptly return messages and communicate effectively with supervisors and teammates.

    • Assist with service days, special events, and programs outside the department as needed.
    • Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the club — cleanliness is a team effort.
