    Job Summary: The Summer Camp Counselor is responsible for supporting the delivery of activities, supervision, and organization of summer day camp for youth in grades 3-10. Pay Rate: $17.50/hour

    • Schedule: Full-time; seasonal

    Must be FULLY available from June 1-August 21 Set schedule of Monday-Friday from 8am-4:30pm (40 hours/week) Locations: Hiring in Golden Valley, Coon Rapids and Woodbury, MN Application Process: A short video questionnaire, a 30-minute virtual interview with a Recruiter and short virtual meet & greet with hiring manager. Must be able to pass a background check.

    What you'll be doing:

    Summer Camp Operations:

    Enthusiastically greet campers and guardians as they arrive and depart from camp and record attendance.

    • Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in order to meet the intended camper outcomes.
    • Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times.
    • Participate in the teaching and progression of lessons and activities, including adapting to differing camper ages, abilities and group dynamics.

    Engage with campers during activities and games.

    • Assist with the setup and cleanup of camp activities and events.

    Address and resolve any camper issues or conflicts in a positive and constructive manner. Escalate camper issues or conflicts as appropriate.

    • Provide guardians appropriate feedback and information as needed for their campers to have a successful camp experience
    • Provide support in summer camp programming, including post camp wrap-up.

    Communication and Culture:

    • Communicate in a positive and professional manner with campers, guardians, other employees, and volunteers.

    Promote a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion to make AHS a welcoming environment for all.

    Technology:

    Clock in and out of shifts using ADP.

    • Monitor AHS email and other messaging software.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Additional Information:

    Schedule and Attendance:

    Regular, predictable attendance, punctuality, and availability to work during operational hours. Attend and participate in regular team meetings and one-on-one meetings with direct leader and/or on-site Humane Educators. May be required to work at a different site based on department needs. May be required to attend occasional off-site meetings and events.

    Work Environment:

    Environment can be dirty, wet, warm, and humid. Exposure to zoonotic diseases and pests such as fleas and ticks. Possibility of being bitten or scratched. Exposure to unpleasant odors, chemicals, and noises, including barking. May be exposed to extreme weather conditions including but not limited to cold, heat, rain, and snow when outside.

    Experience:

    Experience working with youth in grades 3-10 preferred.:

    Skills:

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and attention to detail. Strong administrative and process management skills. Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills. Proficient with computers, specifically a working knowledge of Microsoft products.

    Physical Demands:

    Prolonged sitting, standing, and walking. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.

    Emotional Demands:

    Must be comfortable with the emotional aspect of work in an animal shelter environment, including the use of humane euthanasia.
