    Job Description

    The Summer Camp Counselor leads engaging, age-appropriate activities and fosters a safe, inclusive, and fun environment for campers. This role is responsible for

    • planning and facilitating daily camp programming while acting as a positive role

    model and ensuring camper safety and well-being.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Activity Leadership

    • Lead and supervise group activities such as arts and crafts, sports, games,

    nature exploration, or themed educational sessions.

    • Adapt programming to meet the needs, abilities, and interests of different

    age groups.

    • Ensure all activities are safe, organized, and inclusive.

    Camper Engagement & Supervision

    • Maintain a safe and supportive environment by actively supervising campers

    throughout the day.

    • Encourage participation, teamwork, and respectful behavior.
    • Monitor and respond to camper needs, including minor injuries, emotional
    • support, and conflict resolution.

    Daily Camp Operations

    • Assist with daily setup, cleanup, and maintenance of camp areas and supplies.
    • Support arrival, dismissal, and transitions between activities.
    • Enforce camp rules and emergency procedures as trained.

    Collaboration & Communication

    • Work closely with fellow staff, counselors, and leadership to deliver

    consistent and cohesive programming.

    • Communicate regularly with supervisors about camper progress, incidents, or

    concerns.

    • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.

    Qualifications:

    Education & Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education,

    child development, recreation, or related fields is a plus.

    • Prior experience working with children in a camp, school, or youth program

    preferred.

    Skills & Competencies:

    • Energetic, creative, and responsible with strong leadership skills.
    • Ability to manage a group of children in a positive and engaging way.
    • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
    • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
