    Job Summary:

    Under general supervision, performs a variety of work activities while providing customer service in the operation of a recreational, historic or natural resource park; interprets natural features of the area, or historic objects/artifacts for visitors; and ensures public safety by enforcing Park rules and regulations.

    Job Duties:

    Outdoor Recreation & Programs:

    Hosts visitors; Provides information in response to visitor questions, direction, guidance, and concerns.

    Customer Service:

    • Provides customer service by phone, in-person, or other methods to respond to

    public inquiries about park hours, accommodations, and reservations.

    Cash Handling:

    • Perform cashier duties at Contact Station/Gift Shop, run reports, collect and

    account for fees for park admission and store purchases/souvenir orders.

    Maintenance:

    • Perform various maintenance tasks proficiently including vehicle and park

    equipment, minor electrical, plumbing, and preventive maintenance.

    May lead and assist in training subordinate staff. Supervise and work with an Arizona Department of Corrections work crew.

    Other duties as assigned as related to the position.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

    Knowledge of:

    Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. Park rules, fees and revenue functions; techniques for display and interpretation of objects/artifacts and general/natural resources to visitors; basic maintenance strategies, and general office procedures.

    Skill in:

    Maintenance and inspection of park infrastructue, buildings and equipment, including general plumbing skills, landscaping, minor electrical and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.

    Ability to:

    • Research of natural or historical information; performing math calculations;

    first aid techniques; oral and written communications; interpersonal relationships; deescalate upset or non-compliant visitors

    Selective Preference(s):

    Two years of experience equivalent to a Park Ranger Specialist; OR three years of work experience in customer service, library or museum work; OR a Bachelor's degree in Park Management, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or a closely related field. Any combination of training and experience that meet knowledge,

    skills, and abilities may be substituted.

    Pre-Employment Requirements:

    Must possess and maintain a current Arizona Driver's license appropriate to assignment. Some positions may require certification as an Emergency Medical Technician, Grade 1 Water Distribution Systems Operator, and/or Certified Interpretive Guide,First Aide CPR.
