EHS Specialist Department: Environmental Health and Safety Employment Type: Full Time Location: Liberty, SC
Description:
The EHS Specialist in Liberty, South Carolina will support enterprise-wide Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives with a focus on compliance, risk reduction, and continuous improvement. This role will manage key safety programs, maintain EHS databases, and provide actionable insights through dashboards and KPIs. The position requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across multiple departments and facilities.
How You Will Help
- Maintain, and promote safety as a core value and drive a positive safety culture.
- Identify and prioritize safety initiatives in support of the EHS Management System (AEMS).
- Oversee EHS database management, ensuring data integrity and timely updates.
- Monitor and help improve Safety systems, programs, policies, and procedures to reduce or eliminate risk with the goal of zero injuries.
- Identifying potential hazards in the workplace and developing strategies to mitigate risks.
- Investigate incidents and near misses and help drive implementation corrective actions.
- Participate in GEMBAs, safety audits, inspections, and hazard assessments.
- Help maintain employee safety committees and safety suggestion program.
- Track and report KPIs, conduct GEMBA walks, and support AEMS initiatives.
Administer the DOT program for all Company truck drivers. Which includes running yearly Motor Vehicle Reports, maintaining all compliance documentation, and ensuring all medical certificates are up to date to ensure FMCSA compliance. Some travel may be required for training and cross-facility inspections and audits.
- Monitor forklift training and ensure certifications are up to date.
- Maintain WC e-CARMA database for workers’ compensation claims.
- Perform other job-related duties as directed by the Safety Manager.
What You Will Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field. 3+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing or distribution environments. Proficiency in EHS software platforms (Velocity EHS, Brady360, LMS). Strong analytical skills with experience in dashboard creation and KPI reporting.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
