Auerfarm is looking to hire dynamic camp counselors passionate about self-discovery, working with youth, the environment, meaningful work, and personal growth. Counselors will guide a group of campers in weekly farm experiences including caring for animals, tending to gardens, creating and participating in camp activities such as sports, nature walks, art projects, cooking, and more. The ideal candidate is a fierce worker, fun to be around, can improvise and be flexible, can pick up cues and jump in to guide or help, can engage with campers and families appropriately, and thrives on an overwhelming sense of accomplishment after each day. Applicants must be at least 17 years of age and preferably have previous experience working with children. Teachers and those educated in agriculture are encouraged to apply. All staff must attend the required training at Auerfarm, before the start of camp and regular meetings during the camp season to be properly qualified.
Counselor responsibilities include:
● Engage and help with the meaningful work of the farm - needs of the animals, gardens, classrooms, and premises ● Chores you may choose to guide with campers: Watering, harvesting and caring for gardens, animal care, set up and clean up for activities ● Projects you may choose to guide with campers: Arts and crafts, nature exploration, science projects, writing activities, cooking, fort building, and more
● Skills you may be teaching: Learning how to use garden tools and equipment safely, basic culinary techniques and cleanliness, proper animal care etiquette and safety, becoming good stewards of the earth ● Play games and participate with campers- sweating and getting dirty alongside them! ● Serve as a “camp parent” which includes assisting with first aid, sunblock, bug spray, hydration, personal hygiene, break times, and medication reminders
● Deal with any behavioral needs and issues in a positive and supportive way, model excellent behavior and attitude ● Follow all camp training guidelines and procedures, assist in setting up and cleaning up each camp day as well as help with setting up before the start of the season

Compensation:
16.94/Hour - 18/Hour Depending on experience
