    Job Title: Examined Life Scholars (ELS) Graduate Apprentice Monthly Summer Camp

    Work Schedule: Between 25-35 hours a week for the month of June - flexible work hours

    Desired Length of Employment: Summer Term

    Pay Rate: $2,720 stipend (funded by the Dean of the Honors College)

    Job Description:

    Dates June 1-June 30, 2026 (ELS program will run June 7 – June 18)* 25-35 hours a week *Some meetings may be required in Spring 2026

    Examined Life Scholars Program Purpose ELS is a grant-based program that will expose low-income local high school students to Baylor’s campus. The students will be selected in the spring of their junior year of high school based on the following criteria: low-income (Pell eligible), first-generation, recommendation from high school staff, and in

    good academic and behavioral standing. ELS students will live on Baylor’s campus for two weeks in June and take a seminar entitled The Purpose of an Education.

    • Scheduled events and activities through Baylor’s Campus Living & Learning and

    Student Engagement offices will give ELS students exposure to the diverse social and cultural life beyond the classroom on a college campus. The Graduate Apprentice will work with the ELS students during the summer program by living in the residence hall, attending the seminar, and assisting with campus programming.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Establish relationships and connections with ELS students through

    near-daily community building activities.

    • Serve as a visible and highly present resource in the residential community

    for student interaction.

    • Work cooperatively, responding to concerns as needed
    • Promote student development; support student success and academic

    initiatives; and other student engagement activities.

    • Coordinate calendar of events and activities that build community and

    connection to the university and liaise with campus partners in this effort. The ability to work evenings is important to this position.

    • Ensure regulatory compliance with residential hall/apartment as well as

    other University policies and procedures.

    • Exhibit an appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse

    academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty and staff of many social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial and ethnic backgrounds.

    • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission.

    Education, Work Experience and/or Licensure

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • 1-2 years of experience in a related field, residence life preferred
    • A passion for pre-college and new student programs, including mentoring,

    academic success, and student engagement programming

    Preferred:

    ●    Enrolled student in a Baylor graduate program ●    Assessment and data driven mindset

    Knowledge and Abilities To perform this job successfully, the Baylor Bridge Graduate Assistant must have

    the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - able to communicate

    directly, concisely and/or diplomatically as required, knowing how, when and what to communicate.

    • Strong customer service abilities with the desire to support and nurture

    individuals involved in the Baylor Bridge program.

    • Computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office

    Suite; Canvas skills a plus.

    • Highly productive, able to work effectively on a variety of projects

    simultaneously.

    • Highly independent, able to accomplish goals with minimum supervision.
    • Demonstrate professionalism and diplomacy in interpersonal relationships.
    • Ability to work additional hours, if necessary.

    Compensation:

    - $2,700:

    • if desired, could live on campus
    • meals provided during the two weeks of the program
