Department Overview: Brockton Behavioral Health Center is 112-bed facility opened in October 2022 to address mental health and substance use disorders, including co-occurring conditions.
The hospital consists of 80 acute inpatient beds and 32 Clinical Stabilization Services (CSS) beds. As part of BMC’s mission to provide comprehensive, holistic care, and to help fill an important unmet need in Massachusetts, BMC Brockton Behavioral Health Center provides innovative care to people with substance use disorders and mental illness.
Boston Medical Center’s Brockton Behavioral Health Center (BBHC) Inpatient Psychiatric Service offers referral-only (primarily referred from other providers, including Emergency Departments), 24-hours/7-day care for patients who need secure psychiatric treatment in an acute inpatient setting. Our services are available to all eligible patients regardless of their ability to pay.
We care for patients across the full spectrum of psychiatric conditions, including anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, depressive disorders, personality disorders, psychiatric conditions caused by medical illness, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, substance use disorder, co-occurring disorders and other psychiatric and medical needs.
Most patients have an average length of stay of 10 days. Our goal is to help patients achieve mental health stabilization so that they are equipped to return to their natural community or to the next level of care. Prior to discharge, patients will develop a complete plan to move on to the next steps of their treatment plan in coordination with our multidisciplinary team.
