    Job Description

    The Summer Camp Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of Sunset Point Camp during the camping season between May through September. The Manager is responsible for staff supervision/evaluation and some camp preparation as available in the off-season. This is a live-in position when camp is in session and the Camp Manager is required to be present the majority of the time the camp is in session. Alternative coverage will be provided should time off be needed during the day and/or overnight.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Always maintain professional boundaries. Present self in a mature and responsible manner.
    • Connect quickly with staff and campers. Develop and maintain personal relationships that inspire trust and confidence.
    • Supervise camp staff, including the development and implementation of staffing schedules.
    • With the Assistant Manager, develop daily programming and supervise implementation.
    • Assure24-hoursupervisory on-site staffing of the camp while in session.
    • Monitor live-in staff during “off-time” ,particularly evening hours.
    • With the Director of Summer Camp and Teen Programs, develop and implement staff orientation.
    • Assure compliance with all safety and security measures, all ACA standards, and all standards of applicable regulating agencies including the local and state Board of Health, the town of Hull, and the Department of Education.
    • Conduct the check-in and group assignment of each  camper on the first day of each session.
    • Complete and maintain all required documentation.
    • Assure proper communication with the town of Hull/Board of Health.
    • Act as primary contact for parents while their child is in residence.
    • Assist in the day-to-day running of the camp.
    • Welcome and oversee visitors to the camp.
    • Evaluate staff, both formally and informally, ongoing throughout the camp season.
    • Communicate with camp nurse and camp cook regarding medical concerns and allergies.
    • Oversee distribution of medications under the supervision of the camp nurse.
    • Act as “Final Authority” in issues of discipline and decisions regarding potential expulsion of campers. Work with and train staff around behavior management  issues. Consult with human resources.
    • Assure proper individuals, including but not limited to, parents and agency administration, are informed of relevant incidents.
    • Assure security of the camp including the pool, night time lock downs, and complete lock up between sessions.
    • Assure camp is maintained in a clean, safe, working condition. Report any problems to proper individuals to be addressed. The Camp Manager is not responsible for making repairs or doing yard maintenance but is responsible for assuring they get done during the camping season.
    • Work is performed in and outdoors at an overnight camp environment with children and adults. May be exposed to high degree of temperatures without air-conditioning. Daily exposure to sun and outdoor elements. Standing, stretching, pushing, pulling,liftingandcarrying30 pounds.
    • Attendance at meetings and  trainings as required.
    • Local travel as required.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in childhood education, recreation, or a related field
    • 3-5 years prior summer camp experience
    • Experience working with latency age youth
    • Certified in advanced First Aid, CPR, and AED
    • Good communication skills working with parents, children, staff and the local community
    • Prior supervisory experience preferred
    • Working knowledge of behavioral management techniques
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
    • Age 25 minimum

    The base pay range reflects what Catholic Charities reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this role at the time of posting and may be modified from time to time.  Actual compensation in this range may be determined based on other factors, including but not limited to work experience, education and specialty training.
