About the Job:
The Water Polo Coach plays a key role in leading the Sholem Water Polo Team by creating a safe, structured, and engaging environment for athletes. This position is responsible for planning practices, coaching skill development, coordinating meets, and fostering positive relationships with participants and families. If you are passionate about aquatics, teamwork, and youth development, this is a rewarding opportunity to make an impact both in and out of the pool.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and lead daily and weekly water polo practices
- Provide instruction, demonstrations, and feedback on water polo skills, drills, and techniques
- Maintain attendance records and prepare meet entries and match-related materials
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding schedules, expectations, and team needs
- Coordinate team activities and address concerns in collaboration with the Aquatics Manager
Supervise, maintain, and organize water polo equipment and storage areas
- Ensure all safety policies are followed and respond appropriately to emergencies
- Maintain a professional, respectful environment and uphold confidentiality standards
Represent the Champaign Park District positively at all times
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age. Previous coaching experience. Knowledge of water polo training techniques. Understanding of water polo principles is required. Knowledge of water polo rules and regulations is preferred. Ability to communicate effectively and work harmoniously with participants, parents, and staff.
Ability to maintain professionalism and work in a fast-paced, team-focused environment.
