About the Job:
Make a splash in your community! As a Swim Lesson Instructor, you’ll play a key role in helping children and adults build confidence, safety skills, and a lifelong love of swimming. This hands-on, active role combines teaching, safety awareness, and positive engagement in a fun and supportive aquatic environment.
Summary of Responsibilities Teach structured swim lessons to children and adults of varying ages and skill levels
- Demonstrate proper swimming techniques clearly and safely
- Monitor participant progress and provide age-appropriate feedback
- Maintain accurate attendance records and skill evaluations
Issue swim cards, certifications, or evaluations as appropriate
- Enforce all Champaign Park District rules, policies, and safety procedures
- Ensure the pool deck, equipment, and teaching areas remain clean and organized
Inspect equipment and report maintenance or supply needs Adapt instruction to changing environmental conditions such as weather, water temperature, and pool depth
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and positive interactions with patrons, parents, and staff
- Follow all safety, equal opportunity, and harassment prevention policies
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Must be at least sixteen (16) years old Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with participants, parents, and staff. Ability to plan and deliver structured swim lessons appropriate to a wide range of ages and skill levels. Ability to assess participant skills and provide constructive, skill-appropriate feedback.
Ability to maintain accurate attendance and progress records. Strong communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with others. Ability to demonstrate swimming techniques accurately.
