    $18.00 to $19.00 per hour Closing Date: Open Until Filled

    JOB TITLE:                     Park Ranger Seasonal DEPARTMENT:             Environmental Services SUPERVISOR:               Parks Director and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor SALARY:                         $18.00 - $19.00 per hour

    SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

    To provide information to the public who are visiting the parks.  To provide security for park visitors and parks property.  Enforce County ordinances and State Statutes applicable to these areas of responsibility.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The listed examples may not include all duties performed by incumbents in this class.

    • Patrol County Park on foot.
    • Function as a public relations representative of the Parks Department by

    providing information and assistance to park users.

    • Guide uses to park and provide access and instructions to users of special

    use rental facilities.

    • Secure facilities after usage.
    • Enforce county ordinance within the park and other ordinance, rules, State

    Statutes applicable to this position.

    • Advise appropriate law enforcement agency of crimes in progress, serious

    traffic violations or other events requiring a police response.

    • May assist other agencies as directed by a licensed Deputy.
    • Provides first aid.
    • Comply with county and departmental policies.  Wear prescribed uniform.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

    Education and Experience:

    • High School diploma or equivalent;
    • First Aid Certification including CPR.
    • Experience in Law Enforcement is preferred or attending college in a law
    • enforcement related field.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Ability to work effectively under minimum supervision.
    • Ability to analyze situations accurately and employ effective courses of

    actions.

    • Ability to communicate positively and effectively with the public.
    • Ability to operator motor vehicles.
    • Ability to swim
    • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
    • Ability to pass background check.

    Special Requirements

    -Regular and timely work attendance

    -Valid Driver’s license

    -CPR certification

    -Applicants must be available to work through Labor Day.

    -Regular work shifts- Monday-Sunday 12pm-10pm

    -20-40 hours per week at Fish Lake County Park

    TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

    Phone, light equipment, automobile, power tools, hand tools, shop equipment, motorized vehicles and equipment.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work mostly in outside weather conditions Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate various pieces of equipment.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear.  The employee is required to walk; use hands to operate, finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.

    The employee is constantly exposed to fumes, noise, vibration, heat, humidity, cold, dust, odors, and dirty conditions.  The employee is exposed to electrical shock, is required to use safety equipment, and may be exposed to chemicals.

    The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee constantly works in an outdoor setting.  The noise level can be moderately noisy, especially when mowing and ear protection is required.
