Requirements:
The 2026 boating season will have Spring, Summer, and Fall business hours (subject to change). Rental operation hours are: Spring: Friday 3:30 pm – 8:00 pm | Saturday/Sunday 10:00 am – 8:00 pm Summer: 7 days a week; 7:00 am – 9:00 pm Fall: Monday – Friday 3:30 pm – 8:00 pm | Saturday/Sunday 10:00 am – 8:00 pm Our ideal Seasonal Outdoor Recreation Assistant candidate is committed to working at least 15 - 20 hours per week during the busy summer season and has availability to work on weekends.
Location These positions will work exclusively on-site at City Park and Washington Park lakefronts.
What We:
Offer All Recreation Assistants with DPR are paid $19.29/hour. These positions are seasonal in nature and are expected to conclude at end of the boating season. On-call positions are eligible to enroll in the City and County of Denver’s 457b retirement plan. This position is not eligible for other additional
benefits:
This is an on-call position, which means it is a part-time, hourly role.
We offer:
flexible scheduling around class schedules, extracurricular activities, and other home or life demands. On‐call positions may have a routine or variable work schedule, depending on the staffing and business needs of the facility they are assigned to. On-call positions work no more than 38 hours per week.

’ll Do The City and County of Denver’s Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is hiring Seasonal Outdoor Recreation Assistants to support boat and bike rental operations at City Park and Washington Park. This is your chance to spend your season outdoors, connect with the community, and help create safe and memorable

s for park visitors. As a Seasonal Outdoor Recreation Assistant, you will: Welcome customers with energy and professionalism while assisting with rentals and DPR program information Outfit customers with boats, bikes, and safety equipment to ensure they are ready for a great
experience:
- Process transactions using the ActiveNet point-of-sale system, including cash, check, and credit card payments; and provide receipts and confirmations Support safe day-to-day waterfront rental operations Provide knowledgeable, friendly, and proactive customer service Help maintain a clean, organized, and inviting dock, rental space, and surrounding outdoor areas Team lift and move boats up to 100 lbs.
- Monitor rental areas for safety and policy compliance and assist with enforcement when needed Respond appropriately to emergencies, including medical incidents, evacuations, or other unexpected situations Assist with set-up, distribution, and return of rental equipment Ensure proper fit and use of safety equipment, including PFDs (personal flotation devices) and helmets Perform other related duties as assigned These positions are expected to conclude at the end of the season, with potential opportunities to transfer indoors to a recreation center during the offseason.
Required customer service and ActiveNet training is provided at no cost prior to the start of the season.

Equivalency: None Physical requirement: Ability to team lift and move boats up to 100 lbs. Licensure/Certifications: Must be at least 15 years of age at the time of application. CPR and First Aid certification is required within six (6) months of hire for employees who choose to continue employment with the City beyond the initial season.
All required licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of continued employment.
