Job Description
The Golf Camp Counselor assists in conducting daily camp activities, including
- assisting campers when moving from golf station to golf station, preparing snack
and drink breaks, assisting with camper lunches, and activities during before and after-care sessions. This position involves direct interactions with children ages 8-17, interactions with other Golf division personnel.
Essential Functions:
- Regular and predictable attendance is expected and required. All Cleveland
Metroparks employees must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required.
- Supervises youth campers ensuring a safe and positive summer camp
experience.
- Assists or conducts daily camp activities, i.e., putting contests, golf
baseball, kick ball, moving lunches and snacks/beverages,
- Prepares and ensures that necessary equipment is ready and in the correct
location, i.e., golf clubs and golf balls
- Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or
concerns.
- Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to
- maintain a safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself,
co-workers and public. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.
- Performs related duties as assigned or apparent.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in camp, zoo, aquarium, or nature center education
preferred
- Must be personable and outgoing, works efficiently and in an organized manner
- Possesses effective/strong communication skills
- Must pass background screen which includes fingerprinting and drug screen
- Valid Ohio Driver's License
- Provide three positive written references attesting to the suitability of the
individual to work with children
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with
stakeholders, including employees and the general public.
- Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely and persuasively using correct
grammar, spelling and punctuation with ability to communicate one-on-one or in group settings.
- Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and organization.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to perform with considerable independence and initiative.
