Overview This position is located at Naval Medical Center with the Directorate of Medicine, Gastroenterology Division in San Diego, California. Health Technician (Gastroenterology) Directorate of Surgery (Ophthalmology). The individual is responsible for providing patient care, supporting diagnostic procedures, patient teachings; and administrative support work in connection with the care and treatment given to patients.

Duties

• Assist with all biopsy procedures including endoscopic biopsies, polypectomies, rectal biopsies, and liver biopsies.
• Responsible for assistance to physicians during specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Ensure adherence to sterile techniques and other established safety measures to prevent patient infection and cross-contamination.

Assure charts and X-rays are available for procedures and administers appropriate pre-medications orally or intramuscularly.

• Perform in-service orientation and teaching of ward personnel and patient teaching in accordance with clinic and hospital policies and procedures.
