    As a Mellon Fellow in Textile Conservation, you will be part of a two-year, full-time fellowship in the conservation of textile collections. The museum continues its focus on textile art and fashion throughout its galleries and is poised to offer excellent advanced-level training in textile and fashion conservation.

    What You:

    ’ll Do As a Mellon Fellow in Textile Conservation,

    your responsibilities:

    will include: Performing examination, conservation treatment, and exhibit preparation of museum objects from the Textile Art and Fashion, Arts of Asia, Indigenous Arts of North America, Arts of Ancient Americas, Arts of Africa, Arts of Oceania, and Modern and Contemporary Art collections.

    • Reviewing of objects for acquisition and loan purposes.

    Assuring accuracy and completeness of records and reports. Collaborating with team members in project planning. Sharing general laboratory duties as assigned. Undertaking a research project and participate in symposia, conferences, publications, as well as public programs.

    • Supporting DAM’s Racial Equity Roadmap initiatives through goal setting and applying a racial equity lens in daily work.

    Qualifications:

    What We:

    ’re Looking For Advanced graduate-level conservation training. High level of manual dexterity, excellent color matching, and familiarity with hand tools are required. Familiarity with stabilization techniques, dyeing of support fabrics, preventive conservation methodologies including IPM practices, mount design and preparation, and aqueous treatment is preferred.
