Job Description The Seattle Area Director role is a strategic general management opportunity to lead growth and be the face of the brand at a leading education company with a quickly growing footprint in the Seattle area —one of the few summer camp organizations operating at scale. Overseeing a $1.5M business across 5 locations, the Area Director drives both operational excellence and growth strategy in Seattle, and eventually the Pacific Northwest. They lead site-based operations and field staff while partnering with marketing, people, customer service, and supply teams to execute high quality summer programs. By connecting deep insight into local communities, schools, and families with strong relationship-building, the Area Director delivers exceptional customer value, builds trusted school partnerships, and ensures the company remains a first-in-class provider of educational enrichment, while planning for long-term continued customer growth. The Seattle Area Director is part of a tight-knit "Expansion" Field Operations team that includes teams in Colorado and the Midwest, and works remotely in Seattle. This role is an opportunity to accelerate the growth of Galileo, and to build the team to support our rapid expansion in the PNW.

    You Will Be Accountable For:

    You will be the “General Manager” of the Washington Galileo territory, ensuring the Galileo summer programs in your region are the first-choice camp for families. Your time will be equally split between the following essential responsibilities:

    You will lead the local strategy for Galileo’s growth:

    You’ll use available market data and knowledge of the community to develop a strategic growth plan, including identifying specific sites and projections for enrollment

    You will own the P&L for a portfolio of sites:

    Secure and retain site relationships and negotiate facilities contracts that are mutually beneficial With the marketing team, develop an enrollment strategy to deliver expected results With the finance team, set revenue targets and manage the budget

    You will effectively manage the people for your team:

    In partnership with our recruitment and training teams, you’ll hire, train, and manage an inclusive team, including Camp Directors and other Field team members. You'll be part of and collaborate with the Field teams of other geographies, modeling our company values and mindsets to create and establish strong culture for all full-time and summer staff.

    You’ll deliver exceptional camp results:

    You’ll evaluate the success of camps by reviewing staff and family satisfaction results and assessing camp quality through on-site presence. You’ll collaborate internally to prioritize program and systems improvements that result in a high quality camper and parent experience year round.

    Compensation:

    We anticipate total compensation for this Full-Time, exempt position to be $115,000-$140,000. Exact compensation may vary and will be based on multiple factors, including geography and professional experience. Our pay practices are guided by a commitment to equity and informed by market benchmarking and internal audits to minimize bias and ensure fairness across all roles.

    Work Location & Schedule This is a full-time position, averaging 40 hours per week Fall through Spring, with increased hours during Summer months. While we prioritize work-life balance, there may be times when additional hours are necessary to meet deadlines and ensure the success of our programs. Remote in the Seattle, Washington area. Candidates must be located within the geographic area. Candidates must have use of a personal vehicle to travel between worksites, as travel around Seattle and the suburbs on a regular basis are essential functions of this role.

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, advanced degree preferred

    Experience in multi-site operations management, managing programs or services:

    Experience with setting financial goals and managing a P&L:

    Experience with the local camp, education, or parent market:

    Minimum 5 years experience managing individuals and a team Staff hiring and recruiting experience Minimum 2 years experience working with K-8 education; experience working at camps a bonus Ability to travel throughout the area and be onsite frequently and urgently (especially in the summer) and make trips to Galileo Headquarters (Oakland) and possibly to other territories a few times a year.

    Additional Information:
