Overview Department 642 is currently looking for an organized, self-motivated, experienced Pipe Welding Instructor for the Weld School. This position will report to the Supervisor of the Weld School and play an integral role in the training and qualification of Welding students. The Welding Instructor will be part of a team, responsible for the training of students in various courses related to general safety, various welding processes and wire types, as well as adhering to additional welding procedural related requirements. Qualified candidates will have a strong sense of commitment to Safety and Procedure Compliance. Possess strong verbal & written communication skills and be a self starter. Candidates must possess the ability to multi-task and interact with a friendly, approachable customer service demeanor.
Responsibilities & Duties - The responsibilities & duties include but are not limited to:
Instructing various classroom courses related to trade work such as Workmanship, Back to Basics and Safety Briefs GTAW Pipe welding Directing and assessing hands on training with practice and tests Enforcing safety rules and regulations
- Assessing student performance & identifying non-conformance to policies, procedures and technical documents
- Supporting various course curriculum reviews and other related activities
- Conducting assessments as required
Consistently and accurately grade tests and quizzes to ensure knowledge capture, understanding of training topics, and ensure record keeping requirements
- Communicate with other Training shifts to advance work and communicate issues
- Supporting special training projects as required
- Support the Training department in achieving goals and objectives along with other responsibilities as assigned
Available for overtime as needed
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma/GED Must be a first class welder
Preferred:
Prior teaching/instructor experience Certificate, Associates or advanced degree MDD-00948 and/or MDD-01464 VT certified NDT experience
Skills:
Familiar with Nuclear Trade requirements
- Organized and have an excellent work ethic
Have experience with Microsoft programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc. Experienced working knowledge of procedures Ability to work in a changing environment. Must be self-motivated, maintain a positive attitude, possess strong communication skills and be a team player. Ability to work as part of the team
Ability to prioritize and complete multiple complex tasks and projects Have a strong will to lead and direct in a classroom environment Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Have a strong commitment to teaching and leading student classes
Have a demonstrated commitment to customer-service, safety & procedure compliance Have a willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities and duties as needed Have a willingness and desire to learn and teach new courses and team members with a variety of learning abilities Must be able to stand for long periods of time
