What is needed for this job:

At least 18 years old. High school graduate or equivalent. Or enrolled in a minimum of 2 years of child development coursework approved by state licensing requirements.

Experience working with children and at least two seasons working as a Y Camp Counselor or as a counselor in a comparable program.:

Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and experience working with children. Ability to lead and motivate a team. Ability to deal effectively with inappropriate behavior and recognize hazard situations.

The responsibilities we will trust you with:

• Monitor and train staff to ensure effective implementation of programs and activities. Ensure staff adherence to all policies and procedures. Coach and train staff in providing quality camping experience.
• Plan and oversee the implementation of a variety of camp activities; ensure activities are age appropriate and contribute to the overall growth and development of the campers.

Ability to identify, address, and redirect/correct inappropriate behavior.

• Ensure appropriate behavior of campers and staff to avoid the risk of accidents.
• Assist in maintaining effective communication with parents/guardians regarding camper and camp activities.
