Job DetailsJob Location: Flossmoor, IL 60422Position Type: Part TimeSalary Range: $15.00 - $16.00 HourlyJOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision and direction of the Site Director and Recreation Supervisor, the camp Hobo Jungle counselor/recreation leader will assist with the planning, directing, implementation, and evaluation of programs and activities.
Hobo Jungle Camp is a hands-on, project-based camp
experience:
where creativity meets construction. Campers design and build imaginative projects using wood, hammers, nails, and other basic tools. Our program encourages teamwork, problem-solving, and confidence through safe, supervised building activities. The H-F Park District’s mission statement is “to enhance the quality of life through diverse recreational opportunities, facilities, and parks while caring for the environment”.
The Part-Time Camp Counselor plays a key role in guiding campers through the design and construction process. Counselors will support campers in building, modifying, and sometimes tearing down projects, while ensuring a safe and engaging environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work and helping young people bring their ideas to life.
Hours: 8:00 am -12:00 pm M-F ESSENTIAL JOB
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist campers in using tools such as hammers, nails, and basic woodworking equipment safely - Provide outstanding customer service to our internal and external guests by providing friendly, responsive, courteous and helpful service.
- Assist with the planning, directing, implementation, and evaluation of camp programs and activities.
- Plan, direct, and participate in camp activities including arts and crafts, games, sports, and nature activities.
- Guide, direct, and motivate campers.
- Provide a safe environment for all campers.
- Be cordial and courteous to the public.
- Inform Site Director of all camp happenings.
- Assist with record keeping, including attendance, accident, and emergency forms.
- Attend all staff meetings (campsite and camp-wide).
- Adhere to the policies and procedures as outlined in the staff manuals and trainings.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
AND TRAINING: - Comfortable working with wood, basic tools, and physical activity - Must be at least 16 years old. -
Experience:
working with children.
- CPR/AED Certification or the willingness to become certified.
