    Job Summary:

    Develops, implements, and oversees strategies and programs to model compliance with applicable federal, state, and local Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) regulatory requirements, and organizational EH&S and Workplace Safety (WPS) policies and standards. Ensures the success of Environmental Health and Safety programs through implementation, evaluation, monitoring, and enhancement. Ensures employee safety and protection by implementing and contributing to the development of Environmental Health and Safety programs and training efforts. Ensures high-quality service by resolving moderately complex issues and acting as a resource on EH&S and WPS matters. Recognizes and assesses hazards and risks by conducting and implementing best practices for identifying, analyzing, documenting, and communicating moderately complex and nuanced workplace environmental health and safety risk trends. Ensures risk control by promoting workplace safety and compliance and evaluating the effectiveness of measures to improve workplace safety outcomes.

    Independently adheres to and promotes compliance standards by: planning for developing, implementing, and overseeing strategies and programs to enable compliance with several interrelated applicable federal, state, and local Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) regulatory requirements, and organizational EH&S and Workplace Safety (WPS) policies and standards; serving as a liaison for all EH&S regulatory, accreditation, and grant agency inspections and surveys (e.g., The Joint Commission [TJC], Environmental Protection Agency [EPA], Division of Occupational Health and Safety [DOHS], Occupational Safety and Health Administration [OSHA], State Fire Marshall, state and public health county inspections), identifying downstream impacts for compliance and suggesting proactive solutions; upholding and modeling compliance with Kaiser Permanentes Policies and Procedures and Principles of Responsibilities; independently planning, scheduling, and contributing to best practices for the completion and submission of moderately complex regulatory reports within appropriate time frames; proposing incremental process improvements to allow for efficient and effective compliance; and maintaining knowledge of changes to laws, regulations, codes, policies, and standards and their impact on Environmental Health and Safety.

    Supports training and continuous learning about Environmental Health and Safety by: maintaining advanced knowledge through training and development and integrating learning and feedback into daily work tasks and strategies; presenting and assisting with development of safety education and training programs for management and staff (e.g., proper use of tools, procedures, and safety measures; environmental hazards and risks); and implementing and contributing to the development of competency assessments to measure and ensure training effectiveness.

    Engages in safety practices by: ensuring employee safety and protection by independently educating employees, leaders, and other key stakeholders on employee safety; leading reporting, investigating, and analyzing employee safety incidents as needed; conducting moderately complex safety-related activities for all employees; and recommending and implementing changes to the employee safety program.

    Ensures the execution of Health and Safety programs by: implementing and assisting with revision and development of environmental health and safety programs; independently conducting moderately complex assessments and analyses to evaluate health and safety programs; and identifying opportunities to enhance existing programs based on analyses, observations, industry standards, and organizational goals and develop new programs where gaps are identified.

    Identifies, speaks up, and capitalizes on improvement opportunities across teams; uses influence to guide others and engages stakeholders to achieve appropriate solutions.

    Supports the development of work plans to meet business priorities and deadlines; identifies resources to accomplish priorities and deadlines.

    Recognizes and assesses hazards and risks by: independently developing and implementing best practices for moderately complex and nuanced assessments and data analysis to identify workplace environmental health and safety risk trends; preparing high-quality analysis and reports regarding the state of environmental health and safety; and documenting to enable tracking/trending of safety information using appropriate software and tools, communicating within and outside ones team.

    Ensures risk control by: recommending and implementing changes that promote workplace safety and compliance (e.g., accident prevention, hazardous materials management, fire/life safety); and gathering input from internal and external stakeholders to evaluate the effectiveness of changes on workplace safety outcomes.

    Pursues self-development; creates andexecutes plans to capitalize on strengths and develop weaknesses; leads by influencing others through technical explanations and examples and provides options and recommendations.

    Ensures high-quality service by: independently responding to complaints and resolving moderately complex issues that require expertise and judgment, escalating as needed; and acting as a consultant/resource for local administration, managers, physicians, and staff on moderately complex Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) and Workplace Safety (WPS) matters (e.g., environmental management, industrial hygiene, safety).

    Facilitates team collaboration to support a business outcome.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelors degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Natural Science, Engineering, Emergency Management, or related field AND Minimum five (5) years of experience in environmental health and safety, risk management, or directly related field OR Minimum eight (8) years of experience in environmental health and safety, risk management, or a directly related field.

    Safety Professional Certificate within 24 months of hire OR Health Safety Professional Certificate within 24 months of hire OR Industrial Hygienist Certificate within 24 months of hire OR Associate Safety Professional Certification within 24 months of hire
