OVERVIEW:
To provide on the ground support and leadership to Outdoor Recreation Specialists in the facilitation of outdoor recreation specialized activities, including kayaking, corcling, mountain biking, archery, airsoft, disc golf, and teambuilding. Average hours are 25-30 hrs/week. This is a seasonal position that reports to the Outdoor Recreation Supervisor.
Outdoor Recreation Lead must attend all mandatory staff training sessions or make arrangements prior to being hired.
Training dates are:
- May 12-15 from 6:00pm-9:00pm
- May 19-21 from 5:00pm-9:00pm
- May 22-23 from 9:00am-4:00pm
- May 26-27 from 12:00pm-9:00pm
- May 28-30 from 9:00am-4:00pm
*Training dates/times are subject to change
Camp Dates & Hours: June 1st - July 31st; Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Camp Location: Anne Springs Close Greenway Adventure Road Entrance, 194 Adventure Rd, Fort Mill, SC 29715
KEY FUNCTIONS:
· Able to lead and teach specialized skills
· Develop and deliver specialized programming activities according to the abilities of the campers
· Supervise and participate with campers in activities
· Assist Outdoor Recreation Supervisor in organization of team staff, including scheduling, training, weekly meetings, and observations w/ feedback.
· Maintain high standards of safety and security to prevent accidents and to respond appropriately in emergency situations
· Maintain daily and weekly safety and equipment logs
· Maintain, use and store specialized equipment properly; manage equipment maintenance
· Maintain order and cleanliness in general camp areas
· May serve as a camp counselor or recreation specialist when neededAll other job duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. · Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
· Must be 21 years of age or older
· Must be able to attend staff training dates
· Current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training; will train
· Must be able to work a majority of the summer. All camp staff get one consecutive week off during the summer.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Current Lifeguard Certification or American Canoe Association Certification
· USA Archery Certification
· Experience in fishing, mountain biking, and/or disc golf

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Some physical requirements of an Outdoor Recreation Lead position could be endurance including prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, walking long distances, hiking, biking, climbing, and stretching; requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate outdoor equipment and camp activities; requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs; daily exposure to inconsistent weather conditions such as sun, heat, or rain and animals such as bugs and snakes, etc.
