ABOUT:
MCDS: Miami Country Day School was founded in 1938, but its origins are closely tied to the world of Summer Programs, where its success was based on a very simple key – total involvement for eight weeks, in a world of nature, sports, creative activity, excitement, wonder, and the instinctive knowledge of the needs and desires of its campers.
Miami Country Day School is looking to expand on its success, with the addition of coed sports and specialty camps, travel programs, academic courses, and our ever-popular Day Camp. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & TASKS: Provides positive leadership and guidance to all campers.
- Responsible for general well-being and safety of all campers.
This includes sharing safety info information and checking students for any bug bites, scrapes, etc. that they may incur during the day
- Plans and oversees camper activities.
- Guides and teaches a range of specialty camp activities.
- Assists in setting up and putting away equipment while ensuring it is safe and stored properly.
Supervises campers during meals. Instructs campers in daily routine and clean up tasks. Instructs and organizes camper projects of various natures (arts and crafts, dramatics, etc.) Assist the campers with daily procedures, such as collecting their book bags, and making sure they take everything home at the end of the day.
- Maintains cleanliness and order in each classroom.
Serves as a ROLE MODEL for the campers and they should be the focus of your time.
- Maintain a smile and a positive attitude every moment you are with the campers.
- Communicate any camper concerns to the nurse, the parents, and the Auxiliary Programs Coordinator as soon as they appear.
- Provide supportive leadership for the MCDS Summer Camp Staff.
Take part in individual staff and camp evaluations. Exhibit good judgment, enthusiasm for the activities and a strong awareness of safety. Always keep campers engaged and entertained.

experience:
as a counselor-in-training, teacher, childcare or related field is preferred. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently. Encouraging to campers and patient when instructing. Ability to serve as a positive role model and mentor. Excellent verbal and written communication

Comfortable in a team-player role. Creative and innovative thinker and planner. Strict adherence to camp philosophy, standards, and goals. Must work well with varying age groups of children. Exhibited leadership
