Camp Minnehaha Lead Counselor

Minnehaha Academy is a Christian school and a ministry of the Northwest Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church.

Minnehaha Academy’s Camp Minnehaha has a full-time opening for a Lead Camp Counselor at our 4200 West River Parkway location for the nine weeks of summer camp.

Position Dates: June 8 – August 7, 2026.

(Please note there will be no camp on June 19 & July 3)

Hours: 8:20 am – 4:10 pm

Salary Range: Pay starts at $17.00 per hour, with an increase based on experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Oversee campers and camp assistants as Lead Counselor to ensure a safe and fun camp environment.

Position Requirements & Qualifications

Core Requirements

• Age: Must be at least 18 years old.
• Reliability: Must be dependable and maintain consistent attendance.
• Mission Alignment: Actively support the mission and values of Minnehaha Academy.

Experience & Skills:

• Childcare Background: Previous experience working with children in a church, school, or camp setting is preferred.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and fellow staff members.
• Instructional Ability: Demonstrated ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.

LEADERSHIP & CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT:

• Behavioral Oversight: Proven ability to maintain a well-behaved classroom environment.
• Team Leadership: Provide clear direction and support to assistant counselors when necessary.
• Engagement: A genuine passion for both working and playing with children.
