Job Description The Montgomery College, Germantown, is currently accepting applications for possible openings as a part-time faculty member for teaching a course in Beekeeping. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. ***Montgomery College accepts applications for Adjunct/Part-time Faculty on a continuous basis. The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgment and shall be determined at Management’s sole discretion. During the academic year part-time faculty at Montgomery College may teach no more than 11.5 ESH (equivalent semester hour) per semester and no more than 23 ESH per academic year. During summer part-time faculty at Montgomery College may teach no more than 10 ESH (equivalent semester hour) for both sessions combined. Duties and Responsibilities: The Environmental Horticulture is seeking a qualified instructor to teach an in-person Beekeeping course at the Germantown campus. Key Qualifications: Proven Experience in Beekeeping: A strong foundation in honeybee management is essential. Strong Communication Skills: The ability to clearly explain complex concepts and engage effectively with students is critical. Primary Responsibilities: Teach students the fundamentals of beekeeping, including bee biology, hive structure, and colony behavior Provide hands-on instruction in hive setup, maintenance, and safety procedures Demonstrate proper and ethical bee-handling techniques Instruct on the prevention, detection, and management of common bee diseases and pests Explain honey extraction processes and other hive products Discuss the ecological importance of bees and their role in pollination Provide guidance on relevant local regulations and best practices in beekeeping Required Qualifications: AA Degree. Six years of managing honeybee hives.
