Description
We are looking for people who have a passion for helping others learn to ski and ride. Nordic welcomes beginners and helps them feel comfortable in a new environment. Instructors can help beginners become lifelong skiers and riders by fostering a fun and safe experience. This position is great for anyone who loves to ski/snowboard, as we have great perks for our employees to also enjoy our resort and sister resorts throughout the country. Duties & Responsibilities:
Teach alpine skiing and/or snowboarding to beginner to intermediate-ability students, using PSIA/AASI teaching methods and following the safety codes of the mountain.
Plan, organize, and implement ability-appropriate lessons while fostering an inviting and fun learning environment.
Promote and emphasize safety in all classes.
Maintain a positive attitude, help students build confidence, and encourage further learning by teaching high-quality lessons.
Ensure all students have valid lift tickets or season passes prior to starting the lesson.
Encourage guests to return and grow as a skier or rider.
Complete assigned training modules through our instructor training program
Work well with team members, demonstrate good communication skills, and promote a positive work environment.
Follow supervisors direction and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Must be able to physically and verbally demonstrate the tasks associated with the learning progressions.
Must be able to multi-task and exercise good judgment.
Must be able to quickly adapt to changes in the work environment.
Must have excellent guest service skills.
Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Must have a positive and encouraging attitude.
Must be dependable, responsible and reliable.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
Must be able to spend a full day on skis/snowboard.
Must be able to work for an extended period of time in varying weather conditions, including extreme cold and/or wind.
Must be able to work at high altitudes for an extended period of time.
