Summer Internship - Bike Camp Manager

Looking for your dream summer internship? Get the best of both worlds at Pedalheads this summer – manage one of our summer bike camps AND gain real-world project experience in your field of study!

The Pedalheads Summer Internship Program is open to college students who are interested in gaining leadership and management experience while ALSO completing a focused project in one of the following areas:

• Marketing: Develop marketing materials and strategy for Pedalheads+, our nonprofit focused on bringing day camps and lessons to underserved communities at no cost to families.
• Education: Design and deliver educational helmet safety presentations for local preschools & support Pedalheads’ staff training sessions.
• Public Health: Evaluate and provide long-term recommendations for Pedalheads’ current weather policies regarding air quality and temperature in response to changing climates.
• Data Science: Dive into Pedalheads custom-built software and complete a data project to increase efficiency and user experience.
• Don’t see your field of study? Discuss what skills you’d like to develop with your internship supervisor and create your own project!

What you’d be responsible for day to day:

We’re looking for people who want to work a fun summer camp job without sacrificing the chance to gain real-life project experience in their field of study. Come join our dynamic, high-energy team and create breakthrough, happy dancing, high-fiving, “I did it” moments by teaching kids all about biking!

• Program Management - Ensure that program delivery and safety standards are maintained, and that every participant has a positive and rewarding experience at Pedalheads. This will require lots of hands-on involvement in teaching the kids
• Human Resources/Employee Relations - manage Camp Supervisors, Instructors, and Volunteers, mentoring and motivating your team
• Customer Service - Be willing to go the extra mile to engage customers and provide excellent customer service.
• Administration – Schedule your team and prepare materials each week
• Internship project – Complete an internship project that helps Pedalheads improve its operations

WORK DATES:

• Camp dates: June 22 – Aug 28 (camp weeks may vary based on location)
• Internship project: can be completed anytime between hire date and September 4

LOCATIONS:

• This is an in-person position for the duration of the camp dates
• Locations in Seattle, West Seattle, Mercer Island, Shoreline, Edmonds, Bothell, Mill Creek, Woodinville, Redmond, Kirkland, Bellevue, Sammamish, Issaquah, Tacoma and more

WAGE:

• Bike Camps: $23.00- $27.00/hour
• Trail Camps: $22.00 - $26.00 /hour

Skills, knowledge and experience

Here are some of the skills and experience that are important for this role:

• We are looking for people with experience managing, coaching, or supervising youths ages 13 through 24, preferably in a camp or sport environment.
• Ideal candidates will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic.
• They will be dynamic leaders who bring out the best in their teams through mentorship, motivation, and hands-on leadership.
• Hold or willing to get a current Standard First Aid with CPR certificate
• Criminal record check required
• Have access to a bike and helmet and are able to ride a bike proficiently.
