This is an on-site position at Reston headquarters and locations across Reston Association applicable to the Tennis department. Your seasonal position may require travel to multiple Reston Association sites based on the duties required.
Position Overview

At RA, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We are actively seeking a Tennis Professional to join our team! The primary function of this position is to teach adult, junior, private, and semi-private tennis lessons on Reston Association courts as part of a large park and recreation program. This role plays a critical part in delivering high-quality recreational experiences and fostering a love for tennis in the community.
The Tennis Professional will be responsible for teaching youth (17 & under) and adult groups, and private lessons for all ages. The instructor will communicate with class participants regarding program details, court locations, and weather updates. This position requires evening and weekend availability and a strong ability to work collaboratively with a team.
This position offers varying hours per week, from 3-9 hours per week from March-December. These hours depend on operational needs and are subject to change.
What You’ll Bring
- Age 18 and up.
- Minimum of three years of tennis coaching/teaching experience.
- USPTA or PTR teaching certification.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Experience working with higher-level juniors and the ability to develop players from beginner to advanced levels.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well with people of all ages and skill levels.
- A dynamic, motivated, and proactive approach.
- Strong team player with a collaborative mindset.
- Comfortable being outdoors and working in a range of outdoor temperatures.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and remain on your feet for extended periods, including standing and walking.
