SUMMARY:
Sun & Ski Sports is seeking a Merchandise Specialist Manager to partner with existing digital merchandising leadership in owning the execution and integrity of our ecommerce item catalog. This role will co-lead and support a portion of the digital merchandising function, with a primary focus on item setup, catalog build, data accuracy, and quality assurance across sunandski.com and related digital platforms.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, data-driven leader who thrives in large-scale catalog environments and can independently manage complex item data workflows while collaborating closely with peer leaders. This role exists to scale capacity, improve accuracy, and strengthen operational rigor, ensuring that item data is customer-ready, searchable, and aligned to merchandising strategy.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partner with digital merchandising leadership to co-own item setup, catalog management, and data quality standards, acting as a peer leader within the function
- Lead and support a portion of the digital merchant team focused on item creation, SKU maintenance, attribute management, and catalog accuracy
- Own execution of bulk uploads, mass updates, and large-scale item changes, ensuring speed, accuracy, and platform compliance
- Establish and enforce quality assurance (QA) processes for item data, including pre- and post-launch audits to prevent customer-facing issues
- Troubleshoot and resolve item data issues that impact search, navigation, pricing, availability, conversion, and fulfillment
- Collaborate closely with category, inventory, marketing, and technology partners to ensure item data supports business strategy and promotional needs
- Maintain and improve documentation, standards, and best practices related to item setup and catalog governance
- Monitor item-level performance and operational metrics,identifyingdata-driven opportunities to improve customer experience and conversion
- Stay current on platform capabilities and system enhancements that impact catalog structure, item attributes, and data workflows
- Support peak-season readiness by ensuring catalog completeness, accuracy, and scalability under high-volume conditions
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3–5 years of ecommerce experience with deep focus on item data, catalog management, or digital merchandising operations
- Proven experience building,maintaining, and auditing large product catalogs, including complex SKU structures and variants
- Strong experience managing large data sets, bulk uploads, mass updates, and data corrections in ecommerce platforms or PIM systems
- Demonstrated expertise in quality assurance (QA) for item data, with a track record of preventing and resolving systemic issues
- Advanced proficiency in Excel or equivalent tools (large spreadsheets, formulas, validation, lookups, data QA)
- Experience working within ecommerce platforms (e.g.,Odoo, Constructor, Odoo, The Cube Data,etc…)
- Strong attention to detail paired with the ability to operate efficiently in fast-paced, high-volume environments
- Ability to lead, mentor, and QA the work of others while maintaining collaborative peer relationships
- Analytical mindset with the ability to understand downstream impacts of item data on customer experience and business performance
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, especially around documentation, standards, and cross-functional coordination
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Occasional weekend and holiday work may be required during peak periods
