Job Description
Newport News, Virginia Overview Works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or designee to develop and provide quality and therapeutic recreation services for the residents.
- Maintains space, equipment, and supplies for the provision of recreation therapy services.
Actively performs as a member of an interdisciplinary team and demonstrates the knowledge and
skills:
necessary to provide interventions in the geriatric population.
- Assists with management of volunteers, to include recruitment and retention.
What you:
will do Schedules and/or conducts quality therapeutic recreation activities that contribute to a vibrant quality of life for residents. Works to recruit and retain volunteers to achieve additional recreation activities.
- Oversees recreation areas and assigned departments/staff for resident services.
- Ensures proper maintenance, adequate equipment and supplies for these areas to ensure compliance with facility policies and to ensure that needed equipment and materials are available.
These
responsibilities:
also include some accounting based on department type such as bookkeeping or tracking changes.
- Collaborates with the physician to provide for the therapeutic needs of our residents and customers.
- Performs administrative duties so that all filing and updating are completed accurately.
- Performs charting as needed, , files all general information of activity participation of the residents, and organizes all general information of onsite and off site programs.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors Degree, Recreation Therapy or related field (Preferred)
Experience:
1 year Recreation Program
experience:
working with a geriatric population (Required) Licenses and Certifications Certified Auto External Defibrillator (AED) - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 Days(Required) First Aid - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 Days(Required) Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) - National Council for Therapuetic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) (Preferred) Operates company vehicles as essential function of the job Valid Drivers License Required To learn more
