Summary

Rock City Gardens is seeking an enthusiastic and engaging Part-Time Tour Guide to deliver memorable and educational experiences to guests by sharing the history, legends, and attractions of Rock City Gardens. Tour Guides play a vital role in ensuring that guests enjoy their visit and leave with a deeper appreciation for this iconic destination. Under the direction of the Guest Relations Manager the Tour Guide is responsible for performing the following duties:

Responsibilities

Delivers excellent guest service to internal and external customers in line with the organization’s mission, culture, and values.

Models appropriate guest and partner interaction at all times.

Provides guided tours for groups of various sizes, including schools, corporate outings, and general visitors, ensuring information is accurate, engaging, and tailored to the audience.

Learns, memorizes, and delivers detailed tour scripts.

Greet guests warmly, answer questions and assist with wayfinding or special requests during the tour experience.

Presents facts about Rock City Gardens' history, geology, and attractions, including Lookout Mountain, the Fairyland Caverns, and the Seven States View.

Uses storytelling and interactive elements to enhance guest engagement and create memorable experiences.

Monitors tour groups to ensure safety during their visit, particularly on trails, bridges, and high-traffic areas.

Assists with special events, programs, or other guest activities as needed.

Uphold the mission of “Creating Memories Worth Repeating” and exemplify company values: Innovation, Communication, Learning, Appreciation, Accountability, and Proactivity.

Provides information, directions, and recommendations for other area attractions as needed.

Requirements

Previous experience in hospitality and tourism preferred.

Possess a kind, outgoing, and energetic personality with a desire to engage with guests and provide excellent guest service.

Ability to display a professional, engaging, and polite image to guests and team partners.

Ability to speak effectively to small groups (up to 15 guests) while maintaining a high level of engagement and enthusiasm.

Ability to obtain and share in-depth knowledge about the history and lore of Rock City Gardens.

Ability to read and understand operational documents.

Ability to work effectively with a team in a fast-paced, efficient environment.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money.

Ability to provide a flexible schedule to work nights, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed.

Required to regularly use hands and fingers. Ability to lift/move up to 15 pounds. Required to walk, stoop, kneel or crouch frequently. Must be able to stand regularly.
