Part-Time, Temporary/Seasonal, Non-Exempt Position General Summary Red Hot Summer Camps at Roland Park Country School provides experiential, hands-on experiences led by talented and expert teachers in STEAM, visual and performing arts, sports, cooking, and more.
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Dates of Employment: June 15 – August 7, 2026 Position Overview We are seeking an enthusiastic, high-energy Lead Counselor to oversee our afternoon summer camp program. The Lead Counselor will supervise camp counselors, manage daily activities, and ensure a safe, fun, and engaging environment for up to 50 children ages 5–12. This role requires strong leadership skills, creativity, and experience working with school-age children.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise, support, and lead a team of camp counselors.
- Oversee a group of up to 50 children ages 5–12, ensuring safety and positive engagement.
- Plan, organize, and execute daily games, crafts, and recreational activities.
- Maintain a structured, upbeat, and welcoming environment for all campers.
- Manage behavior in a positive and constructive manner.
- Communicate effectively with staff, campers, and families as needed.
- Ensure camp procedures and safety protocols are followed at all times.
- Assist with setup and cleanup of activities and camp spaces.
Work Conditions:
A mix of indoor and outdoor supervision of children during play. Must be able to dress for a variety of weather conditions.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary Range: $20-22 based on skills and experience. Qualifications:
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Must be at least 18 years old. Classroom Teaching experience preferred. Previous experience working with school-age children (required). Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a camp, recreation, or youth program setting (preferred). High level of enthusiasm, energy, and creativity.
Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage groups of children and staff in a fast-paced environment. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, walk up and down stairs, and actively engage with children (including running during games).
