Travel Percentage: Negligible Job Category: Nurse SSA Summer offers a fun, balanced, traditional program of arts, games, sports, science, nature study and academics. The facilities of the Academy are available for all campers and students across all four campuses. The well-trained and experienced staff includes members of the Academy's faculty and others with years of teaching and/or camp experience. The camp nurse is responsible for providing medications to the students (over the counter and prescription) as well as caring for any acute illness or injury. SSA Summer is looking for daylight coverage at each of its 3 campuses from June 8-August 7, 2026.
Responsibilities:
Safety First! Maintain safety standards for campers and staff including all record keeping and documentation
- Provide nursing care and physical screening to ill and injured children
Administer daily and PRN medications and nursing care procedures prescribed by the student’s physician
- Communicate health needs and report illness or injury to parents
Uphold and implement health related policies and procedures
- Monitor program and correct dangerous situations. Contact Administrative Staff if unsure of safety of lessons.
- Develop a working knowledge of assigned campers/students including confidential medical information
- Maintain positive, appropriate and safe relationships with campers.
Be on time, be committed, be involved, and display a positive attitude every day. Other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Camp Directors and Director of Programs. Necessary Skills Excellent ability to exercise clinical judgment and assessment knowledge, specifically in regards to school age population
Ability to oversee and implement health care specific to student needs Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community Ability to initiate assessment and action with minimal supervision Ability to organize and set priorities Ability to maintain electronic confidential information and records
Ability to remain flexible, and work effectively under pressure A passion for working with children A calm and caring approach
Qualifications:
Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in nursing, a current PA license, CPR certification, and Act 33/34 clearances are required. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated pediatric or school nurse experience, a flexible and team-oriented approach, excellent written and oral communication skills, exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, superior interpersonal skills, and a warm and positive bedside manner.
