Job Details Job Location: Smithfield, NC 27577 Position Type: Full-Time/Part-Time Travel Percentage: None Job Shift: Any Receive assignments and review resident schedules. Properly report on and off duty.
- Adhere to established policies, nursing care procedures, and safety regulations.
Verify resident identification before administering treatments or serving food.
- Assist residents with dental and mouth care.
Aid residents in identifying food arrangements, including assisting visually impaired residents.
- Assist with meal trays, feeding residents, and removing trays after meals.
- Provide after-meal care as required, including cleaning residents' hands, face, and clothing.
- Help prepare residents for meals, including transportation to and from dining areas, tray service, and assistance with feeding.
- Ensure accessibility of food and self-help devices for residents.
Record residents' food intake as directed.
- Assist residents who cannot feed themselves.
Serve additional nourishment according to nursing care procedures.
- Provide drinking water as needed.
Bathe residents in accordance with nursing care procedures, encouraging self-help when possible. Dress residents neatly and assist with dressing as needed. Daily comb and brush residents' hair; shampoo as directed. Clip and trim residents' toenails, fingernails, and eyebrows as directed. Shave male residents daily or as instructed.
- Ensure female residents' underarm, leg, and facial hair is kept clean-shaven as needed.
- Provide back care per instructions.
- Monitor and report pressure areas to prevent bedsores.
- Assist residents to and from the bathroom; offer bedpans, urinals, and portable toilets as necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness and storage of equipment; report intake and output as directed.
Keep incontinent residents clean and dry; change bed linens and clothing as needed.
- Monitor and report bowel movements and stool characteristics as directed.
Make beds and maintain cleanliness of bedside tables and other areas related to nursing care.
- Assist residents in preparing for tests, therapies, physician visits, and activities; transport residents as needed.
- Assist with therapy treatments as instructed.
Position residents comfortably and correctly. Turn bedridden residents frequently; record information as directed. Observe and report on disoriented or comatose residents; record data as instructed.
- Assist residents into chairs, beds, bathrooms, showers, etc.
Promptly report all complaints to the Charge Nurse. Regularly check on residents as required.
- Assist residents in walking with or without assistive devices.
Immediately report any resident leaving or having left the premises to the Charge Nurse. Keep floors dry and clear of unnecessary equipment to prevent accidents.
- Ensure compliance with smoking regulations; report violations promptly.
- Ensure the nurse call system is within reach of bed-bound residents at all times.
Respond promptly to resident calls.
- Report any instances of resident abuse immediately.
- Ensure residents remain warm by keeping blankets on beds at all times.
- Monitor room temperature, ventilation, lighting, etc., and report any changes.
Keep residents' personal belongings off the floor and properly stored.
- Report any medications found in residents' rooms to the Charge Nurse.
- Maintain cleanliness of supply rooms and work areas.
Wash hands after caring for each resident.
- Follow infection control procedures, especially when isolation techniques are necessary.
Accurately chart required information as instructed. Respect and uphold residents' rights to fair treatment, self-determination, privacy, property, and civil rights. Foster a warm, caring environment and maintain a calm atmosphere throughout the unit.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident care information to protect resident rights.
Access only the necessary confidential medical information for residents under direct care.
- Report all accidents and incidents to the Charge Nurse, regardless of severity.
Immediately report hazardous conditions and equipment to the Charge Nurse. Attend and participate in in-service educational programs and on-the-job training as directed.
- Ensure work areas are clean and equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored at the end of shifts or assignments.
- Perform other related duties as necessary or directed by the Unit Nurse or Administrator.
Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Must possess a valid Certified Nursing Assistant card issued by the State of North Carolina and maintain current certification through required continuing education. Certification must be registered with the North Carolina Division of Facility Services. Must demonstrate loyalty, honesty, and trustworthiness.
Good physical health and hygiene habits required. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and a genuine passion for working with geriatric residents.
