    Introduction South Hills Interfaith Movement (SHIM) is a human services organization dedicated to mobilizing community resources and implementing sustainable programs that compassionately help our neighbors meet basic needs, achieve self-sufficiency, and build community. We provide direct assistance (food, clothing, and utility assistance) as well as a variety of programs including service coordination, children and youth programs, and the South Hills Family Center.

    Program Summary:

    SHIM’s Summer Camp is designed to foster summer fun for elementary & middle school students living in the South Hills community through unique enrichment activities, field trips, and community partners. SHIM Summer Camp serves approximately 150 children in 1st through 8th grade. The Summer Camp currently operates for 8 weeks in the summer starting in June and running until August. Summer Camp meets Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

    Job Summary:

    The Summer Camp Manager will oversee and manage the Summer Camp program by planning the daily operations of the program, supervising staff, communicating with families, and overseeing all program activities. The Summer Camp Manager will lead the day-to-day program to ensure the physical and emotional development of students, primarily from immigrant and refugee backgrounds. This is a part-time position beginning in April and ending in August. Before camp starts, hours of the job will be flexible as planning and prep work is needed (up to 20 hours/month). While camp is in session hours typically ranging between 8:00 am – 2:00 pm Monday through Friday.

    Essential Functions:

    · Oversee and manage the Summer Camp program and ensure safety and wellbeing of all students · Maintain all program supplies, purchasing, and expense reports · Develop, organize and implement daily activities and games · Maintain up to date emergency forms, attendance documents, individual child files, student outcome reports, and all other programmatic records

    · Create and oversee annual program calendar including field trips, partner activities, transportation schedules, family events, camp closings, group activities, etc. · Hire, train, and supervise all Summer Camp Counselors · Maintain staff schedules to ensure safe staff-to-child ratios · Manage student recruitment, enrollment, and retainment efforts

    · Establish positive and trusted relationships with students and families · Offer onsite supervision and support to all staff, students, and partners

    Requirements:

    Qualifications:

    · Demonstrated leadership ability · Knowledge of youth development practices and program management · Experience working under pressure while maintaining a positive, calm attitude · Experience with budget management · Demonstrated experience with case management, child development and community organization

    · Sensitivity to work with a multi-cultural community · Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with families, volunteers, colleagues and external entities · Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills · Must possess initiative, productivity, creativity and problem-solving skills

    · Ability to work as a team member and to be highly flexible · Knowledge of basic office computer software (Microsoft Office) and systems

    Education and Experience:

    · Bachelor’s Degree preferred (Preferred Degrees within Social Work, Counseling, Education, Nonprofit Management) · Relevant experience or education within youth development, education, social emotional support, and program management will be considered

    Physical Requirements:

    · Must be able to move on uneven terrain and remain stationary for long hours · Ability to reasonably engage in play with students · Constantly working in outdoor environment

    Clearance Requirements:

    · Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History (PATCH) through the Pennsylvania State Police · Pennsylvania Child Abuse History (PACA) through the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services · FBI Criminal History Background Check (FBI Fingerprint); requires the individual to submit their fingerprints to the FBI and have the background check run through the PA State Police’s designated agencies

    · Completed Mandated Reporter Training and agreement to comply as a Mandated Reporter
