The project has the potential to help power the nation’s clean energy future, strengthen the domestic supply chain of critical minerals, grow the local economy, and improve lives in Santa Cruz County and the surrounding community for generations to come.

The Role The Laboratory Technician position is responsible for undertaking a variety of chemical and/or metallurgical analytical lab procedures of technical nature. Ensures quality business practices and standards are followed to achieve all set targets and business goals.  Individuals will be handling sensitive equipment to execute laboratory testing according to standard procedures, make observations and interpret findings. This position will take accountability for completing the daily activities of the lab operations. This posiiton is located in Patagonia and will be on site.

Accountabilities (Include but are not limited to):

Individual Accountabilities:

• Performs routine analysis testing, including operation of lab equipment.
• Assist in collect samples which include collection from multiple sites and locations.
• Prepares samples for analysis using appropriate techniques and performs routine chemical and/or metallurgical analysis and reporting.

Strong proficiency using MS Excel to develop and maintain spreadsheets reports, and other documentation.

• Maintains laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
• Perform various administrative duties, including but not limited to, ordering supplies, tracking reagent consumption, critical lab equipment parts inventory, chemical inventories, etc.
• Support plant operators as required.

Qualifications, Skills, and Expertise:

• Demonstrated experience in knowledge of math, chemistry, and Microsoft Office.

Strong organizational and documentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Previous experience working with chemicals. Previous experience working with lab equipment (chemical sample preparation and/or analysis, auto-diluter, mass spectrometer, titration, etc.).

Preferred

One year of direct lab experience 6+ months experience operating ICP-MS equipment.
