Position: Summer Camp Counselor Location: The Adirondack Club, Franklin, MA Age Requirement: 15+ (Lead positions require 18+) Employment Type: Seasonal (June 16 - August 15, 2025) Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM Compensation: The starting rate for assistant staff Summer Camp counselors begins at $16.50/hour and Lead Counselor rates vary but begin at $17.25/hour
The Adirondack Club is looking for enthusiastic, responsible, and energetic individuals to join our 2025 Summer Camp Team! We offer a dynamic and rewarding environment where counselors will help provide an unforgettable summer experience for campers while ensuring a safe and fun atmosphere.
About Our Camps:
Our longest-running program, Adventure Camp, groups children by age and offers engaging activities, outdoor adventures, and creative play.
- Green Group: Ages 3-4 (9:00 AM - 3:00 PM)
- Blue Group: Ages 5-6
- Orange Group: Ages 7-8
- Yellow Group: Ages 9-10
- Red Group: Ages 11-13
In addition to Adventure Camp, we also run:
- Sports Camp (Ages 8-12): While a sports background is not required, we encourage applicants with high school or college team sports experience to apply.
- Arts Camp (Ages 5+): Perfect for those who love arts and crafts! Limited spots are available.
Applicants should be open to being placed where their talents, experience, and personality best fit within our camp programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and engage with campers in daily activities.
- Plan and lead games, arts & crafts, and sports sessions.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers at all times.
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor for campers.
- Assist in organizing and running special events and themed days.
- Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and campers.
- Support setup, cleanup, and transition times between activities.
- Foster an inclusive and fun camp environment.

Experience & Qualifications:
Formal work experience is not required! However, we want to hear about any experience you have working with children, including:
- Babysitting
- Prior camp experience (as a camper, counselor, or CIT)
- Coaching or mentoring younger children
- Volunteering with youth programs
- Watching younger family members
Commitment & Training:
- Camp Dates: June 15 - August 21, 2026 (Monday-Friday).
- Counselors must be available for at least 7 weeks, but preference is given to those who can work 9+ weeks.
- Camp is closed Friday, June 19th.
- Attendance is required all five days per week unless pre-approved by the Camp Director.
- Mandatory Training Sessions (Dates TBD, must attend).
- First Aid & CPR Certification required – training is provided at no cost with flexible scheduling.

Summer Camp Counselors in Massachusetts are required to have background free of conduct that bears adversely upon their ability to provide for the safety and well-being of the campers. The camp director shall obtain a sex offender registry information check from the Massachusetts Sex Offenders Registry Board for all prospective staff and shall obtain a CORI/Juvenile Report from the Department of Criminal Justice Information Services for all prospective staff.
